George W. Runkle III, MS, PE, SE
President, Runkle Consulting, Inc.
George W. Runkle III is a licensed Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer with over four decades of experience in structural design, construction, and engineering leadership. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1981 and his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University in New York.
George served 28 years in the U.S. military, including distinguished service in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, and U.S. Air Force. His deployments included assignments in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, and Iraq. He retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2005 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Following his military career, George founded Runkle Consulting, Inc., which has been providing structural engineering services for the past 25 years. His firm specializes in the structural design of innovative building systems, including modular and container-based construction, cold-formed steel, and cladding systems. Throughout his career, George has also supervised numerous construction, renovation, and repair projects for both civilian and military facilities, combining technical expertise with hands-on field experience.
George continues to bring the same dedication, precision, and leadership to his professional practice that he demonstrated throughout his military and engineering career.
